LAST POST EVER

THought I should let everyone know that the CRCA-REMAX team- a team thats been around for 17 years- has been shut down by REMAX Corporate Offices. Even though they had been our title sponsor for years, they threatened us with legal action if we continued. Coming from a family of lawyers, this is unnecessary and simply bullying with legal power. We were not the only ones- even Remax local offices had their websites shut down. Its a shame when lawyers lose their perspective of reason upon a situation because they have been given a new objective.

REMAX Wins NJCX #9

Action Outfitters Holiday Cross, NJCC # 9 Results

Gabe won round 9 of teh NJCX series on Sunday in white conditions. Winning by almost a minute in the Elite field, Gabe just hit the gas early and stayed on it till the end. Running tubulars allowed him to race with 30psi and carry a little more speed through the corners than Oakes, leader of the NJCX series.

This is Gabe's 3rd win of the CX season!

I had really good legs for this race, but I crashed on the second lap and lost contact with the group I was riding with. In my fury to try and get back on, I crashed again and that was my day. Too bad. Well, at least I know I have the fitness, but since I am only racing once a weekend now (and I am choosing usually the harder of the two races for the weekend), it sucks to lose a chance a decent finish.

USGP Cyclocross Mercer Cup Day 1 Results

USGP Cyclocross Mercer Cup Day 1 Results

Oh boy - what a kick in the head this was. Going from winning a CX race in Augusta two weeks ago to getting lapped out of the Elite race in USGP is pretty humbling. There were a lot of "whys" and plenty of things that could be used as perfectly valid excuses, but in the end I got the crap kicked out of me. With a little dose of perspective, this is my first year in the Elite CX field and really, one year ago I was racing in the B field in NJ and getting beaten. So, the progression is there, but I still don't like feeling like I've been bashed. All in all, this makes for a good base for my road season next year and I hope this will raise my threshold so I can get that Cat 1 upgrade by the end of the year.

Also, i rode my business's prototype wheels - Echappe Classic Edition CX. Low profile tubular rims with American Classic lightweight hubs. The wheels are laced two cross up front and triple cross in the rear. Running them at 33psi and tearing around on the course showed the wheels were solid enough to handle a UCI course no problem. My friend Aaron Oakes also ran the wheels and finished an impressive "last of the leaders", which is perfectly respectable. Aaron ran his wheels at 38psi and thought they were responsive yet supple enough to handle the bumpy and root-y sections of the race.

For more info on the wheels go to: EchappeOnline.com - Cyclocross.

'Cross Examination: Gould, Frattini double in NJ; O'Dell, Lloyd smoke 4th NCNCA stop

'Cross Examination: Gould, Frattini double in NJ; O'Dell, Lloyd smoke 4th NCNCA stop

Yes, this race sucked, too. This race sucked for a few reasons. Namely, everything seemed to go wrong to start. My brakes were rubbing and then I found that my cleats were wrong and that the screw threads in the shoes were stripped. Adam Myerson LENT ME HIS SHOES for the race. I couldn't believe it. What an awesome dude. It didn't make me go any faster, but at least I could race.

So, I totally need to figure out why my feet don;t clip in at starts. It's stupid. every start I fuddle with the cleats on eggbeaters (the easiest cleats in the world to clip into) and end up losing wheels before the race even starts. Any ways, Adam Myserson got tangled up with Tyler Wren and it actually benefitted me. I got to ride Adam's wheel for a few laps until the hellish uphill section absolutely gassed me on the fourth lap and then I was trondling around like a horny high schooler at the homecoming dance who lost his date. "Hey, can I catch a wheel? no? ok." Totally stuffed legs and a burning need to finish this damn race so I can go home.

Next week's plan: DO NOT LIFT WEIGHTS ON THURSDAY. Thats about it. Oh, and fix my shoes. USGP, baby! Looking forward to getting absolutely killed.

Single Speed Remax-ers. These guys seem like a lot of fun and a completely different approach to being on a team than what I've come to know as a roadie. Check out their site - its a lot of fun.

Chris Jones racing World Cup CX - Netherlands

World Cup Results for Netherlands CX Men's Elite Race - November 11, 2007

I was checking to see how Johnathan Page finished and I came across a teammate of my friend David Wiswell's - Chris Jones. Jones had a great year on the road with a ton of top ten finishes on great races with Health Net and Colavita breathing down his neck. I had no idea Chris was planning on racing World Cup events. He got 40th out of 46 and was 2 laps down, but the speeds these guys are pushing and Chris's limited CX experience make this a great finish. Hopefully Page is taking care of his while he's there.
